BALTIMORE, February 27.—While gross operating revenues of the Balti- more & Ohio Railroad last month showed an increase of $393,758 over December, the total was below that of January, 1930, while the net operating income was the lowest for any month since 1920, when the railroads were turned back from Government opera- tion during the war. Total operating revenues for the month amounted to $14,192,574, a de- crease of $3,227,829, compared with January, 1930, while operating expenses were $11,805,774, in which economies in operation effected a decrease of $2,127,- 933 compared with the same month last year. Net revenues for railroad overations for the month amounted to $2,386,800, which was a decrease of $1,099,896, while the net operating income after deductions for tax accruals, equipment, rents, etc., was $1,229,142, compared with $2,251,253 in January, 1930, a de- crease of $1,022,111. While all classes of revenues showed declines, freight continues to lead, show- ing a decrease of $2,693,836, compared with January, 1930.
