WILLIAM TAYLOE DIES AT POWHATAN Deceased Was Member of Family of First Settlers in Northern Neck of Virginia. Special Dispatch to The Star. FPREDERICKSBURG, Va, January 18—Mrs, Willlam Tayloe, who by mar- riage became a member of the promi- nent Virginia family of Tayloes, which was among the.first to settle in the upper region of the Northern Neck and which played leading roles in the early political and social history of this sec- tion, died”at her home, Powhatan, on the Rappahannock River, in King George County. She was 86 years old. Mrs. Tayloe was the widow of willlam Tayloe, who died a number of years ago, and was before her mar- riage Miss Sophia Ridgely Plater. She was born at Bloomsbury, the Plater an- cestral home in St. Marys County, Md., which is close to Sotterlee. She was a direct descendant of Gov. Plater of Maryland. Mrs. Tayloe's girlhood was: spent in Georgetown, D. C.,, until her marriage, when she came to Powhatan and there spent the remainder of her days. She is survived by the following chil- dren: Mrs. Mary Taylor of Charlottes- ville, Edward Tayloe of Louisa County: Mrs. Sophia T. Munsford, wife of George Withe Munsford of Annapolis, Md.; Mrs. Eva T. Harrington, wife of S. Maxwell Harrington of Dover, Del., and ‘Bladen Tayloe of Powhatan, King George County. PURCELLVILLE, Va, January 13.— Funeral rites were held for Mrs. Char- lotte Elizabeth Miley, day at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Kemp Furr, in Mountville, at the ad- vanced aged of 95 years. She was one of Loudoun County’s okdest citizens. A native and lifelong resident of this Miley. Three daughters, Mrs. Furr, Sally Martz of Herndon and Mrs, Susie Creel of Sterling, and two sons, J. T. Warthen, wife of William Edward who died at her home here on Sunday afterncon, after an illness of several months, due to heart trouble. John Francis Keane, 57 years old, technical adviser to the Interstate Com- merce Commission, died yesterday at his residence in Chevy Chase after a prolonged Hiffiess. Mr. Keane was a native of Connectl- cut, having been born in Bridgeport February 1, 1873. Prior to thking up his duties 'with the Interstate Com- merce Commission in 1914 he was spe- cial assistant to the president of the Adams Express Co. Mr. Kenaeplayed an active part in the reoganization of express companies and the revision of express rates dur- ing his more than 16 years' association with the commission.
