C, THURSDAY, JANUARY 1, 1931 HE POTOMAC ELECTRIC POWER COMPANY wek comes the opportunity to announce its seventh consec- " utive yearly reduction in electric rates. These new low rates which will be in effect January 1, 1931 apply to all schedules and will benefit the householder, the manufac- turer, the merchant, the apartment house owner, the hotel operator, the Federal and District Governments. Electricity for lighting, power and heating will be cheaper this year on the lines of this Company in the District of Columbia and nearby Maryland. Our customers, both domestic and commercial, will save $830,000 in 1931 through the new rate reductions, com- pared with the previous year. By virtue of the profit-sharing agreement in force between the Public Utilities Commission of the District of Columbia and this Company and approved by Decree of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia, these substantial reductions, since the Decree of the Court, amounting in all to 587, have been made possible. Aided by the liberal support of our customers, we have increased our volume of production from 146,000,000 kilowatt hours sold in 1924 to 318,000,000 kilowatt hours sold in 1930— an increase of over 116%. The number of connected meters has increased over 80%, while extensions of conduits, cables and wires for serving new customers have increased approximately 100%. The Board of Directors, the Officers—every man and woman employed in “Matchless Service,” extend good wishes and grate- ful thanks for the cordial support that has been given them in their endeavor to give Washington and its nearby suburbs a de- pendable electric service at reasonable rates that will produce mutual benefits to the public and the Company. y Wy POTOMAC ELECT RICPOWER CO. ““Matchless Service”’ oy 1, 1981 N
