By the Associated Press JUNEAU, Alatka, Docember 5.—Hope that Capt. E. J. A. Burke, MCanadian fiyer, and two companions, missing in the upper Liard district of Northern British Columbia since October 11, may be found alive was renewed here today with the return of Pilot E. I. Wasson, who visited Burke's abandoned plane in that area. Wasson and his ' guide, Joe Walsh, reported finding a message carved on a tree saying the missing trio had aban- doned the plane and headed for Wolf Lake, 50 miles distant, after their food had run low. The two searchers then flew over the country between the abandoned plane and Wolf Lake, but found no trace of Burke or his companions, Emil Kading and Robert Marien.
