FREEDMEN’S HOSPITAL CLINICS SCATTERED Surgeon General Points Out Needs of Institution Due to Expan- sion of It: Services. ir- Surg. Gen. Cumming of the Public Health Service, in his annual report on Freedmen’s Hospital of this city, which he submitted today to the Secretary of the Interlor, pointed out that the most urgent need of the hospital is a clinical building to house properly the activi- tles of the dispensary service. The clinics are now conducted in small rooms, widely scattered and unsuited in every particular for this work, the re- port states. An increase in the personnel, the re- port states, is also very urgent and should include an educational assistant, assistant social worker, clerk, telephone operator and a full-time painter. The 4,341 patients received at the hospital during the year was a decided increase over any previous year. Of the number, 1,112 were pay patients. In the varfous’ clinics 14,826 patients were treated, 1,831 surgical operations, per- formed and 1,095 persons given dental |5- 4 treatment. The completion of additions to the Nurses’ Home, power plant, em- ployes’ quarters and dining room, the report states, supplies needs of long standing and places the hospital in a position to render better public service. urs RIGHT IN TIME FOR XMAS!
