Military honors marked the burial in the Arlington National Cemetery this afternoon of Col. Robert C. Loving, a retired Army surgeon, who died at his home in Philadelphia last Friday. The honorary pallbearers were Cols. C. F. Craig, E. B. Vetter, J. B. Huggins and L. J. Owen and Lieut. Cols. H. C. Gib=- ner and J. C. Magee, all of the Medical Corps Col. Loving served several tours of duty at the War Department during which he made a special study of the hyglenic_character of the water supply of the District of Columbia. Establishing a clothing store at Seventh and Massachusetts avenue, he began a 30-year period in that business. He later expanded his business to include four stores. He was a member of Osiris Masonic Lodge, No. 26. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ada Adler, whom he married in 1888; a daughter, Verbena Adler, and two sons, Claude and David Adler. Sister St. Joseph, 8. N. D, aged 85 years, who for 70 years has been a member of the Notre Dame de Namur Order, died late yesterday in the Notre Dame’ Convent, North Capitol and K streets. Sister St. Joseph is reputed to be the oldest member of the order, and was for many years rated as its best teacher, many of her former puplls having held important positions. She taught in No- tre Dame academies in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in Worcester, Boston and Lowcll, Mass. Her sister, Miss Sarah A. Quinn, died last February.
