DETROIT FACTORIES RECALL WORKMEN 5,727 Put Back on Jobs There Within Last Two Weeks, Bureau Reports. By the Associated Press. DETROIT, November 1.—Factories and shops in Detroit have recalled 3,466 men this week, James N. Duncan, man- ager of the Municipal Employment Bu- reau, sald yesterday. Duncan said that a survey conducted by him showed that 2261 men were recalled to jobs last week, . total of 5,727 in a fortnight. These men are in addition to those for whom jobs have been suj by the bureau, which has been placing from 100 to 300 men a day. ‘To warn of coming volcanic erup- tions, a volcanometer, whose thermo- stat when heated to a certain degree tells of danger, has been installed on Mount Pelee.
