* WMAL CONTINES | " SYNPHONY SERES Four Works of Masters Of- fered by Orchestra—Style Radiogram Tonight. The fourth of the series of concerts by the Minneapolis Symphony Orches- tra will be broadcast tonight by WMAL and a network of other Columbia Broad- casting System Stations. Four works of the great music mas- ters make up the program. These are the “Overture” to Thomas' “Mignon,” the “Valse Triste” of Sibelius, Rimsky- Korsakow's “Flight of the Bumble Bee" and the waltz from Strauss’ “Roses From the South.” Lombardo Program Varled. A widely varied musical program by Guy Lombardo and his Royal Cana- dians will feature the Burns Panatela program. The selections range from “Oryin’ for the Carolines” to a medleyl ©of the works of Stephen Foster. Selected arias from Mazart's “The Magic Flute” will be sung by a dis- tinguished group of Columbia artists as i the grand opera miniature. The solo-| ists will be Kenyon Congdon, baritone; ‘Theo Karle, tenor: Adele Vasa, so- prana, and Crane Calder, bass. A style radiogram from Paris will be added to the Evening in Paris broadcast. An orchestra and Taylor Buckley, baritone, will provide the musi- cal portion of the program. Autumn Number Planned. H Appropriate with the advent of Au- tumn, the A. & P. Gypsies play Vic- tor Herbert's “Indian Summer” during the broadcast over an N. B. C. network | and W. R. C. Under the directbn of JHarry Horlick, the orchestra opens the | Program with the overture to Strauss’| “Die Fledermau while the quartet, by | way of contrast, sings “There's a_Hole in the Bottom of the Sea,” by Lake. Other numbers in this program are | “Sweet Nothings,” “All Through the Night. T'll Be Blue Thinking of You" | and “Sweeter Than Sweet.” Music which its composer probably never thought would be arranged for & quartet—“Entracte,” from “Naughty Marietta.,” by Victor Herbert—is one of the numbers the Brigadiers Quartet will sing during the General Motors Family Party. Elliott Shaw, baritone. will be the soloist. He will be heard in two numbers, “Three for Jack” and “When You Were Sweet Sixteen.” Will Feature Medley. A medley of Art Kassel's compositions will be played by his orchestra during the Sign of the Shell broadcast. Wen- dell Hall, master of ceremonies, and Ray Perkins, radio entertainer, also will take part in the program. ‘The Blue Ridge Mountaineers, Phil Loria’s Chimney Villa Orchestra and the Southern Nighthawks will be the rincipal contributors to the program ht of WJSV. The program of WOL contains a recital of Howard Moore, baritone, and dance music by Phillip's Cavaliers. GERMAN PART DENIED IN U. S.
