By the Assoclated Press. | LOUISVILLE, Ky. August 4.—Ken- tucky, where the crop of congressiongl | candidates this year include three women, today awaited the result of Saturday's primary election. County election boards in 6 of the 11 districts | where primaries were conducted began | this morning to tabulate the votes, in | eccordance with the State'’s new elec- | tion law. Fred Vinson, former Representative from the ninth district, took an early Jead over William J. Pields and W. C Hamilton as the count stared f~°=, in the Democratic primary. Vinscn vas| ousted in the Hoover landslide in 1928. Returns from 64 of the district’s 465 | precincts gave Vinson 2,172 votes, Fields 896 and Hamilton 480. E. R. Kendall, Republican incumbent, who went 1 with the Hoover landslide, | had no opposition in the Republican primary. Representative Katherine Langley, tenth district, was opposed in the Re- publican_primary by D. H. Baker and Hector Johnson. Mrs. Minerva Allen | was the opponent of Robert Blackburn, seventh districz Republican incumbent, and Mrs. Mare Haller opposed J. Lin- coln Newhall, Republican, sixth district | Representative. Mrs. Haller was an avowed wet, the other two women drys. The most spirited Republican con- | test was waged in the eleventh between | , incumbent, and Judge | Two other former Democratic Repre- sentatives who lost in 1928 were pri- mary candidates this year.
