A—16 3 RACING YACHTS REACH HONOLULU Handicap of One Still Missing May Yet Permit Her Victory. o g SO Brfthe Associated FiaE " HONOLULU, July 18—Three of the four yachts whicls began a race July 4 1f3ih San_Pedro rested at anchor in Hénolulu Earbor today while the race mmittee awaited word of the fourth, the Mollilou With its handicap ¢f 73 hours 16 minutes and 30 seconds, the Mollilou still had a chance of taking first place 1h elapsed time, Crossing the finish line of Diamond Head at 11:10:12 am. (Honolulu time) yesterday, the 106-foot yawl contender stood an excellent chance of capturing first place in elapsed time, but her skipper and owner, Walter Horne, re- fused to accept an additional six hours’ handicap offered by the race committee. With its regular handicap of 12 hours 6 minutes and 6 seconds, the contender was only 41 minutes behind the 136- foot schooner Enchantress in -elapsed time. The Enchantress crossed the fin- ish at 10:22:52 p.m. Wednesday. The cutter Talayha, handicap seven hours 34 minutes and 38 seconds, was third to finish, at 3:05:38 p.m. yester- encountered ex- lly, there were ‘moments. Navigator 1s of the Talayha fell overboard July 9 while the cutter was making 8 knots. He was rescued by C. G. Johnson. The contender narrowly averted dis- aster Sunday when & boom broke away and pulled the yacht far over on it side. The crew managed to pull the boom out of the water, however, and the boat was righted. The crew qof the Enchantress went swimming in the middle of the Pacific July 13 when the schooner was be- calmed.
