ANDERSON IS GROOMED, Virginians Back Cindidate to Succeed s A Santord. | Special Dispatch to The Star RICHMOND, Va., March 13.—Henry 'W. Anderspn, Richmonder and leader of the progressive wing of the Republican party in Virginia, is being groomed for appointment to the vacancy on the Supreme Court of the United States caused by the death of Justice E. T. Sanford, it was learned here late yes- terday. While there is no organizzd move- ment here yet to indorse Anderson, friends have advanced his name and are now in telegraphic communication with close advisers of President Hoover. Among those who admitted urging the appointment is Berkeley Williams, | prominent Richmond banker and finan- cier. Dozens of others have taken the same action. It is known generally that Anderson was seriously considered to the highest | court by President William Howard | Taft. Again in the Coolidge adminis- | tration he was considered for a vacancy to which Justice Sanford was appointed.
