COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho, December 26—A new use for spinach has been found. ' With an Irish smile, Chief of Police Michael Roche told of the dis- covery yesterday. “On Christmas eve, I walked down the street and saw a girl slap a young Beau Brummel—it was a good slap, too,” sald the chief. “What is wrong?” I asked. “Well, Chief,” the girl replied, “you know the old custom that when a girl i3 caught under a mistletoe on Christ- mas, she has to grant the boon of a kiss? Well, I was coming down the street and this—she pointed a scornful finger at the shiek—stopped me and held something green over my head. :l‘e sald ‘It's mistletoe and I claim a ss. “So T played the game and gave him a kiss, as had several girls before me. Then I looked up and saw tnat the alleged mistletoe was spinach. I'm not the type that can be mistletoed with spinach.” ‘The chief made no arrest. “Spinach does resemble mistletoe. Besides, the girl winked at me when I tareatened to arrest the young man.” “Y” DORMITORY MEN HAVE CELEBRATION s | 01d-Fashioned Yule Breakfast Dis- pels Homesckiness on Christ- mas Day.
