SELMA, Ala,, October 22.—A coroner’s Jury last night returned a verdict of | Jjustifiable homicide in the case of Miss Esther Barnes, 20, who surrendered to Sheriff R. F. Hamner after shooting and killing Edward King, 27-year-old | colored man, who, she said, made im- proper advances toward her. ‘The sheriff released her after the inquest was completed. Miss Barnes telephoned authorities after she had fired one shot from a small caliber pistol into King's throat. She told officers she was at her home, | 14 miles from here, with two small children, when King, who was employ- ed as a chore boy, entered and made improper advances. She ordered him | away, she said, and when he returned later, she shot him.
