LONDON, October 15 (N.AN.A)— A new and palatial club for art lovers is shortly to be opened in Bruton street, Mayfair. It is to be known as the Bruton Club, and an interesting old house is being converted and enlarged for the premises. The club will comprise a theater with a seating capacity of nearly 600, where works of new playwrights will be tried out and where established authors will be free to attempt new and experi- mental dramatic forms; a studio where artists may find a suitable place for the exhibition of their work, a fine res- taurant, a concert hall, a ballroom ge enough fer 800 people and & roof garden for quiet retreat. Much of the interior of the house will be left as it is at present. The fine old oak staircase which runs out of the oak-paneled hall will remain un- touched, and so will the priceless paint- ings on the ceiling over this main hall. ‘The dance hall is one which has re- ceived royalty, and in the beautiful library dozens of historic celebrities have read books, some of which are ex- tremely valuable and are still to be found on_the naken shelves. Everywhere ine house impresses ces with its beauty and solidity. The mag- nificent oak paneling of the present dining room, for instance, dates back to 1648. ‘The club will be the last word in Juxury, but nevertheless original mem- bers may be enrolled . the modest fee of £8.8.0 for town r‘mbers and £5.5.0 for country members.
