Heath wus indicted by the Federal grand jury today on three counts in connection with the death in the De- troit River of Richard J. Sandlands, Federal prohibition agent, August 2. The indictment charges Heath with assaulting a Federal officer with a deadly weapon, making away with Gov- ernment property and violating the tariff act in attempting to smuggle liquor into the United States, Heath was arrested on charges of as- saulting and resisting_an officer after Sandlands’ body was found floating in the Detroit River four days after he and a companion officer boarded the Heath cruiser in the Detroit River to make a search.
