'FLYING SQUADRON 10 DISCUSS PARLEY Christian Endeavor Group to Meet With Society at Church of the Pilgrims. The Flying Squadron of the Disirict of Columbia Christian Endeavor Union will meet with the Christian Endeavor Society at the Church of the Pilgrims tomorrow evening. The squadron will discuss the Kansas City Convention. Plans are being made for an ‘echo meeting” of the Kansas City C. E. Convention to be held August 5. The meeting place will be announced next week. A number of Presbyterian Christian FEndeavorers are_attending the Presby- terian Young People's conference at Hood College, Frederick, Md. Potter to Preach Sermonette. D. R. Potter, president of the District of Columbia Union, will preach the sermonette from radio station WJSV tomorrow evening at 8:30 o'clock. The young people of Potomac Heights community will hold & Spanish fun festival August 3. The Intermediate C. E. Union Board will hold a picnic at Chesapeake Beach August 3. Upon request of the Wilson Ave- nue Baptist Church,” Colmar Manor, Md., a council met at First Baptist Church, Sixteenth and O streets, Wed- nesday afternoon to examine Rev. Jesse E. Davis for ordination to the gospel ministry. The council, composed of pastors and other members of various churches in Washington, was organized by electing Dr. Samuel Judson Porter moderator and Rev. E. O. Clark secre- tary. The meeting resulted in recom- mending the ordination of Mr. Davis. The ordination service will be held at the First Baptist Church tomorrow eve- ning at 8 o'clock. Dr. Porter will preach the sermon and other ministers will assist in the service, which the congregation of the Wilson Avenue Church will attend. Native of Virginia, Rev. Mr. Davis was born at Crewe, | Va., where he recelved his preparatory education, and was graduated from the University of Richmond. Upon re- celving the bachelor of arts degree from Richmond, Mr. Davis was called as assistant to_Dr. O. O. Dietz, pastor of Brookland Baptist Church, in Wash- ington, where he served for two and a helf vears. In addition to his duties as assistant pastor at Brookland he pur- sued graduate studies at American Uni- versity, where he received the degree of master of arts in 1927. In the Autumn of the same year he entered Crozer Theological Seminary, at Chester, Pa. At the close of his work at Brook- land he was called as student pastor of Wilson Avenue Church and for the past two years he has been attending the seminary and also preaching at Wilson Avenue Church, where his min- istry has been successful. Work to Be Completed. In the Fall Mr. Davis will return to Crozer to complete the work leading to the degree of bachelor of divinity. At the morning service at the First Baptist Church tomorrow Dr. Porter's subject will be “Love's Courage to Be Strong.” Sunday_school will be held at 9:30 am.
