NEW YORK, July 27.—An irregular price movement, with many stocks in. supply and lower prices on the Curb Exchange in the week end session, was accompanied by active bidding for a few favored specialties. ‘The feature was Grigsby Grunow, now considered the speculative leader of the radio group. The new stock to be out- standing after the four-for-one split-up, on which the stockholders will vote on i mmg% m“ had y prices. closed at 64, which in itself was a new high. It opened today on 1,600 shares at 65%, from which point it advanced to 73 for a gain of 9 points net. ‘Trading kept up actively in the new Shenandoah stocks. The preferred made a new high in the first hour, but the common fluctuated around the pre- ceding close. Selling at such substan- tial premfum over the offering price, it was not surprising that profit-taking in volume should develop. Goldman Sachs was considerably lower. Curlously enough, the latter has not benefited Shenandoah, although the same int ests are in both stocks and their longer future is closely connected. Goldman Sachs early today was off more than 8 points from its recent high. Reactlonary tendencies were in evi- dence in the public utility group. Mid- dle West Utilities dropped 8 points, not- withstanding renewed reports of a split- up. Electric Bond & Share lost ground. A few more were able to advance, in- cluding Northwestern Power. Electric iglreholdlnl made a new top by a frac- n. Trading was begun in the new Bald- win stock of no par value. The first sale BY CHARLES F. SPEARE.
