FREDERICK, Md, July 20.—Miss Margaret Chapin, Washington, repre- senting the Woman's Missionary Union of the Southern Baptist Convention, de- livered an address on “The Larger Stewardship” at the closing conference of the Missionary Union, a unit of the Maryland Baptist Ascembly,~at Brad- dock Heights yesterday. Miss Chapin, Miss Jeannette White, EBaltimore, and R. Rush Loving, pastor of Virgin Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk, Va. gave a series of lectures each day of the conference, which con- -vened July 15. Rev. Dr. B. W. Spilman, Kinston, N. C., & member of the Sunday school board of the Southern Baptist Convention, made his final lecture on “Lesson Construction” vesterday. Rev.’ Joseph T. Watts, Baitimore, ~general secretary of the association. presided at the final meeting of the church ad- ministration and pastors’ Baptist con- ference yesterday. Royal Again President. At the annual election yesterday aft- ernoon Rev. Willlam C. Royal, pastor of the PFirst Baptist Church, Frederick, was re-elected president, without oppo- sition. He will enter upon his thi year as head of the assembly, having ‘been elected the first year of the or- ganization, and has continued to serve in office. Dr. Watts was re-elected gen- eral secretary. Braddock Heights was chosen for next year's meeting place. Dr. Spilman was secured as one of the speakers and instructors for 1930, Others will be selected and a program of class study outlined at the meeting of the executive board later. The feature of the week was a pageant under the direction of Mrs. C. A. Creas- man, Nashville, Tenn,, & junior Sun- day school specialist. About 50 per- sons in costume took part in the pro- gram. Sunday School Conferences. “The Sunday school conferences, which convened at opening dey of the sessions, adjourned today. _Rev. Cecil Perry, Louisville, Ky., & Baptist Young Peo- ple’s Union worker, made the final dress of the conference. Dr. W. Her- shey Davis of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky., made his final lecture Friday afternoon. W. Powell Hale made the final address at the Chautauqua_each night of the conference. Mrs. W. L. The program will open on Friday with al- terpating round and square dances in the school auditorium, interspersed wif carnival features. On Saturday afternoon, beginning at 1 o'clock, there will be & clown vaude- ville performance, followed by a horse- shoe pitching tournament. Sack races and athletics for the young people will be held cutdoors and a baby show steged in the auditorium. At 3 o'clock there will be a base ball game between the Colvin Run and McLean teams.
