ARTISTS ASSIST PLAY PREPARATIONS Community Drama Guild Will Distribute “Sherwood” Posters This Week. ‘Washington artists and art students are assisting the Community Drama Guild in preparations for the presenta- tion of Alfred Noyes' old English forest idyl, “Sherwood: or, Robin Hood and the Three Kings,” at the Sylvan Thea- ter, on the Monument Grounds, Thurs- day evening, June 20. With Alexis Maney as chairman, this ecmmittee has designed many of the picturesque twelfth century costumes to be worn by the big cast of players, | and under a committee headed by J. P. S. Neligh and Mrs. William S. Moore several hundred of the colorful costumes are now being completed. Serving on the committee for the execution of cos- tumes are Mrs. Louise Wynne, Mabel Wynne, Mrs. Mabel Ridgely and others. The artists' committec is likewise in charge of the designing of “Sherwood” posters, over the city by the end of the week. Clifford K. Berryman has designed the “official” poster for the play. Students of the Abbott Summer School of Fine and Commercial Art, under direction of Miss Anne Fuller Abbott. and members of the art classes at McKinley High School, 1.ader direction of Mrs. Eugenia Deland Sangstad, have also contributed posters. Boy Scouts of the city, under direc- tioa of Col. E. L. Mattice, will form a committee to distribute the posters throughout the city. Through the cour- tesy of Willlam Everett, a scene in Sher- od Forest will be staged in the win- dows of Woodward & Lothrop’s store, beginning the end of this week, the dis- play including an exhibition of cos- tumes and properties of the twelfth cen- tury which will be usel in the presenta- tion of “Shervood.” The fairies’ garb has been designed especially by Miss Caroline McKinley, and these costumes are now being com- leted at the McKinley Studios under er supervision. Harold Snyder, tech- nical expert of the Community Center Denartment, is in charge of the lighting effects. Mexican Officer Is Executed.
