It started | originally from Rotterdam on February; 26, 1928, but was tied up in European ports for almost a year. The Marques de Comillas, which is from Spanish ports, is due at San Juan on March 2! Miranda’s message to the As- sociated Press telling the details of the rescue was as follows: “On March 18 at 10 p.m. we noticed | on the port side occasional skyrockets ‘which appeared to be fired from a very small craft. Then we saw another light signaling by the Morse code for help. Boat Hauled Onto Vessel. “I at once gave orders to head for the craft and when we had the little boat alongside, stopped my engine. The craft was on the larboard and my ship protected it from the wind and sea. It was & sailing ship. Kelly, police chief here, was shot four times and critically wounded late yesterday by a man whose speeding automobile he halted. His assailant, after abandoning his own car and com- mandeering another, escaped. Chief Kelly, who is about 50 years old, was submitted to a blood transfusion.
