L Z Z ¢ 3 Scarfs for Easter es and Chokers \ By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, March 33 —Calvin Cool- idge has arrived in New York, apparent- ly determined that as a private citizen he shall continue his custom of using words sparingly. To reporters who accompanied him from the train at the Grand Central Terminal and rode with him in an ele- vator to a suite at the Commodore Hotel he gave no infogmation as to the purpose of his trip to the metropolis. The only response their questions brought was a faintly noticeable tight- ening of Mr. Coolidge's lips. Hotel offi- cials said he was in New York on a “matter of business.” Mr. Coolidge was accompanied by Lucius S. Storrs, former vice president of the New York, New Haven & Hart- ford Railroad and managing director of the American Electric Railway Asso- ciation since 1925. Mr, Storrs boarded the train at Springfield, Mass, Only a handful of people saw the former President arrive in the Grand Central Station. As he stepped from his train, Mr. Coolidge paused for & mo- ment while cameramen’s flashlights boomed and then walked slowly through the station to' the Commodore, with Mr. Storrs on his yight and a half dozen New York City policemen at his left and in the rear. He carried a small black bag and wore a blue business suit, dark overcoat and dark felt hat, which he lifted as a rip- le of applause came from the on- ookers.
