March 2 —Last week in Annapolis was first of all quite well filled with visitors who came for the midshipmen’s hop on the eve of ‘Washington's birthday and many re- mained over for the week end, as great interest was taken in the athletic cvents, especially the boxing. Wednesday Lieut. Comdr. and Mrs. Joseph Malcomson entertained _at dinner in their home on Prince George street when the guests were Capt. and Mrs. William F. Halsey, Comdr. and Mrs. Samuel S. Payne, Comdr. and Mrs. Daniel McElduff. Mr. John Henry Barnard and Lieut. Comdr. and Mrs. ‘Wallis Gearing Mr. Walter Andrews of Newport. R. I., was the guest for a few days of Comdr. and Mrs. M. E. American Poetry Circle Pleasingly Entertained The American Poetry Circle of the League of American Pen Women enter- tained on Tuesday evening at the Rochambeau Apartment. The president, Miss Maud Scruggs, was assisted by the two vice presidents, Mrs, Bullock-Willis and Miss Alderson; the secretary, Miss Edwin, and Miss Diana Powell, treasurer. Mrs. Bonine Busch, president of the Natlonal League of American Pen ‘Women, honor guest of the evening, was suddenly called to Miami by illness, and Mrs. Bullock-Willis became the reader. Her paper interpreted the “Poetry of the Bible.” Prize poems and honorable mention esavs were read by Miss Aldet- son, Miss Diana Powell, Miss Scruggs. Miss Vincent, Miss Colling, Miss Erwin and Mrs. Thomas. There were no guests invited, but at the Easter meeting visitors will be included. Miss Anne Morrow, Col.
