SOCIETY Vice President and Mrs. Dawes Guests of Rumanian Minister and Daughter at the Legation Tonight. whose honor the Minister of Rumania, M. George Cretziano, and his daughter, Mlle. Jeanne Cretziano, will entertain at dinner this evening. The Vice President and Mrs. Dawes ICE PRESIDENT AND MRS. ‘ ’ DAWES will be the guests in were guests of honor at the Congres- | sa sional Club last evening, when, in the comfortably filled rooms, man guests predominated, an unusual occurence even at the Congressional Club, which on. The reception began at 9 o'clock, id Mrs. Peter Goelet Gerry, wife of the Senator from Rhode Island, president of the club, re- ceived, introducing the guests to Vice President and Mrs. Dawes. The Vice President remained in the receiving line for a time and then went to the small raception room on the first floor, where he joined a group of members of Congress before an open fire, where they smoked. Mrs. Dawes joined him about 10 o'clock, when they left the club. 3 The ballroom, with its line of State flags about the wall, had tall palms here and there and clusters of snapdragons and other flowers which give promise of Spring. The center cluster on the buffet table was of similar flowers and a group from the Marine Band Orches- tra played for dancing through the eve- ning. Mrs. Gerry wore a gown of tur- quoise blue transparent velvet, grace- full ydraped, and with only strings of rhinestones over the shoulders and an ornament of rhinestones to mark the slightly dropped waistline. Mrs. Dawes was in a gown of white with sllver threads woven through the material. The bodice was plain and fell to a low waistline, which was marked by an or- iment of rhinestones and pearls. The skirt was in two flounces, the upper one cut circular and forming a point in the front. She carried a jade green ostrich feather fan. Mrs. Clyde Kelley, first vice president, had a gown of ruby red velvet, fashioned on straight lines and relieved by a long diamond pin in the front of the bodice. Others assist- ing were Mrs. Alben W. Barkley, third vice president; Mrs. Wesley Jones, fourth vice president; Mrs. James As- well, fifth vice president; Mrs. James Parker, recording secretary; Mrs. W. 'W. Chalmers, corresponding secretary, and Mrs. Carl. Mapes, treasurer. Mrs. Pinis Garret, second vice president, was the only officer absent. Mrs. Frank W. Stearns, who for some time has been a guest at the White House, left this morning for Atlantic City, where she will remain for a short time. Mr. Stearnis remains as the Pres- ident's guest.
