i\ . ‘0 t ASHINGTON, 1. C., SATURDAY, JA UDARY 19, 1979 . CONVERTIBLE BOND | Cexox o BONDS o scave] ISSUES ARE HIGHER Market Tone Is Firm in Light Trading—Anaconda 7s Gain. BY CHARLES F. SPEARE. Bpecial Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, January 19.—While trading in bonds was in relatively small volume today, the undertone was firm and the trend slightly upward. Convertible issues, as they always do, moved with their respective stocks. The feature was the buying of the new In- ternational Telephone & Telegraph 41s selling on a when-issued basis. They moved up over a_ point in the early dealings, with a large turnover. Anaconda 7s started in today at 197, up 4 points, responding to the rally in the stock. In the foreign list Pirelli Co. of Italy convertible 7s were in ac- tive demand, gaining 3 points. This issue is convertible into the corpora- tion’s series “A” stock at $40 per share. Interest was also taken in Fiat 7s without warrants, which sold again above par. There have been uncon- firmed rumors from time to time that these bonds would be called for re- demption. Good buying was secn also in certain of the more speculative domestic rails. The leader was St. Paul adjustments, selling around the best since they were issued. It is expected full interest will be paid on these bonds this year. Sec- ond grade rails such as Western Mary- land 4s and the Chicago Great West- ern 4s were moderately higher. So were the Towa Central 5s. in which there has been active speculation of late. Probably the market has been helped Received by Private Wire UNITED STATES. (Saias are tn $:.000 ) Sales. Hizh. Low. BY WILLI F. HEFFEIH\AV. Special Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, January 19.—The week on the Curb Exchange ended with the upward movement still predominant. New high records for the year were marked up in a number of specialty fa- | vorites. | Standard of Indiana, which has been | | the spectacular feature of the oil group | this week, lost its place of prominence and International ~Petroleum was brought to the front. Standard of In- block of 2,000 shares, while the latter issue was carried to a new high for the year at 63, as compared with Fri- day’s final of 607 Electric Bond ‘& Share Securitizs and United Gds featured the utility | group, the latter making a new high. American Super Power issues, which are to figure prominently in the proposed new Eastern utility combine, lost a good deal of their buoyancy, but prices were fairly well maintained.
