A week of “Prayer and Self-Denial for Foreign Missions” will be observed by Southern Presbyterians during the week January 27 to February 3. Under the general direction and supervision of Dr. Egbert W. Smith, the executive secretary of the !nrei(n mis- sions committee, this church is ing countries: Japan, Korea and Mexico. The work in these fields is being carried on by 484 missionaries with 2791 native workers assisting. In addition to these there are 28 missionary doctors and 19 nurses in 22 hospitals and 16 dispensaries, as- sisted by 30 native physlcum and 185 nurses. The estimated cost of this mis- sion work for the year ending March 31, 1929, is $1,240,029.
