MANUFACTURING OUTPUT GREATER IN SEPTEMBER Production Make: Hizh Record Despite Seasonal Variations, Survey Shows. The output of manufactures in Sep- tember, arer adjusuments for the usual 1 variations, reached a new high record, according to a statement issued by th2 Deparument of Commerce today. Pig iron production, making no al- lowances for differcnces in working time or seasonal changes, was- smaller than in August, but substantially larger than in September, 1927. The output of stecl ingois showed a fractional de- cline from the preceding month, but was more than 25 per cent larger than in the same month of last ve: Automobile production, though shew- |ing a seasonal decrease from t | previous month, was considerably in | excess of the output reported for Sep- | tember, 1927. Cotton consumption by textile mills, vever, showed declines from both the previous month and the same month of last year. The output of bituminous coal showed a decline from both the | preceding month and September, 1927. | Copper production, on the other hand, | snowed gains over both periods.
