Ernest Smith has completed 26 years as rector of St. Thomas’ Kpiscopal | Church, Eighteenth street near Dupont | Circle, and will observe the anniversary | tomorrow. ! He has asked his parishoners to ob- serve the 11 am. service of the holy eucharist as a rally service, at which all | the members of the parish are expected | o be present. At the 8 am. service of the holy eucharist he has asked the at- | tendance of all members of the various organizations who are communicants Dr. Smith will deliver a special sermon at_the 11 o'clock service. Before coming to Washington Dr. Smith was for 10 years rector of the | Church of St. Michael and All Angels in | Baltimore. He was_ succeeded in the rectorship there by Most Rev. John G. Murray, the present presiding bishop. At the evening service tomorrow Dr. William S, Bishop, senior curate of the | church, will preach on “The First Christian Sermon.” At a recent meeting the vestry took action toward a campaign to be held in December for the paying off of all parochial indebtedness and the rebuild- ing and remodeling of the organ.
