Meyer, her guardian. asked the District Supreme Court for a writ compelling John | Schaeffer, 1428 Irving street northeast. to give him the child. The writ was served on Mr Echaeffer at noon today. and he said he would have Gloria in the courtroom at 2:30 this afternoon. ! In applying for the writ Ar. Meyer. who lives at 1259 New Hampshire ave- nue. said he feared the Schaeflers might give Gloria to Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Sheffel of Milwaukee. who came to Washington in hope of adopting the girl. Denies Supposed Intent. Mr. Schaeffer denied any intent to let the Sheffels have Gloria. “I have no objection to Mr. Mever #c guardian of the child.” he said. “and 1 had planned to let him take her away from us Sunday.” He wanted to keep Gloria until Sun- day. he said. to see if any person might advance a sufficient reason for mnot Jetting her go to Mr. Mevyer.
