Commissioner Dougherty will throw out.the first ball fat 3 o'clock. All details in connection with the annual .contest were completed at' the final meeting of the committee yes- terday. An unusually large advance isale of tickets was reported, proceeds from which will go into the Police and Firemen's Relief Association. Expect to Raise $25,000. Usually the contest is held on Labor day, but owing to the fact that a reg- ular game was scheduled for last Mon- day, the benefit contest had to be post- poned until tomorrow. Several addi- tional days of grace were thus ob- tained for the sale of tickets. The commite#e believes the proceeds will exceed 425,000 before the gong sounds tomorro®. The two ball teams will start final practice at 2 o'clock, following an hour’s concert by the United States Marine Band. At 2 o'clock until 2:30 enter- tainment will be furnished the specta- tors, after which practice will be con- cluded, and at 2:50 o'clock the National colors will be hoisted to the top of the flagstaff with an impressive ceremony. At 3 o'clock sharp the gong will start the contest between the fire fighters will be awarded an American flag by sioner. Disabled veterans from Walter Reed, Naval and Mount Alto Hospitals will be guests, as will also the orphans from the Jewish Foster Home, St. Vincent’s Female Orphan Asylum, St. Joseph's Orphan Asylum, National Training School for Asylum, Children’s Emergency Home and the Gospel Mission. Two colored men, charged with grand larceny were ordered held for the grand jury by Judge Robert E. Mattingly in Police Court yesterday. Jamec L.
