SCHOOL PLANS PROGRESS. The District Commissioners decided today to ask Congress for an urgent deficiency appropriation large enough to permit construction of the Garnet. Patterson Junior High School, bids for which have been rejected. The bids were opened last week and the prices quoted ranged above $500,- 000, whereas the unobligated balance of the appropriation for erection of the school is $485,000. Alternate proposals were solicited and received in order that the major portion of the work could be done within the appropriation, but the Com- missioners decided not to use these slternates. to this cous Sleeps in Parked Car, Arrested. 'AID IN FLOOD AREA - OUTLINED BY HOOVER| Sacretary Predicts One Portion of Financing Work Will Be Most Efcetive in 1923 By the Associated Press. One portion of the Mississippi flood- relief campaign undertaken this year probably will distribute its most ef- fective aid in 1928, Secretary Hoover predicted in discussing the work of financing the inundated farmers’ crops by the agricultural relief cor- porations, “inaneing of replanting through corporations, for which about 00,000 was provided during the re- paign by Southern and North- nkers, and through which about forded. was made impossible by second rises of the river in much of the flood- “Actually, the relief corporations have lent about $700,000 or $800,000," r. Hoover explained. “However, in the strain of financing a new rop after the loss of the present year will be great, and the corporations have already decided to stay in the field. It is likely that their available funds will render good service then in making sure that credit is given the planters.” — Historic Cathcart Castle, the Cath- cart mansion house and 17 acres of ground in Glasgow were recently of- fered to the city of Glasgow for only $11,500. r= =N BchingerCo Sheet Metal New 5921 Ga. While she was a “volunteer prisoner” at the State | police barracks here, shé asserted that two negroes had leaped on the run- ning board of their automobile, shot the doctor to death and robbed her. Dean MacGeorge, a real estate broker from whom Dr. Lilllendahl purchased his cottage in South Vine. land, told the police that the doctor had written his will himself and that he and a_stenographer in his office had signed it as attesting witnesses. Detectives said they had learned that Dr. Lilliendahl had withdrawn some of the funds from the joint bank account and that on August 13 he had opened a separate account with an finitial deposit of $1,500. Statements by 8-year-old Alfred Lil- liendahl, son of Dr. and Mrs. Lil- liendahl, lead the police to believe that one of the doctor's pistols was miss- ing.
