Saulsbury Former Bank Director. Former Senator Willard Saulsbury, who died from heart disease’a few a: ago at his home in Wilmington, Del., at the age of 66 years, was for many years a director in the Washing- ton Loan & Trust Co. and also a large stockholder. John B. Larner pays him a very high tribute. He says Mr. Saulsbury had an unusually strong character, rare business ability and personally was a most lovable man. He had a very wide circle of friends. The present directors of the bank, who knew him intimately, were deeply pained to learn of his death. For some years he maintained a law office in this city in addition to one in Wil- mington. In the Senate he was con- sidered a valuable member because of his membership on many important committees, Eastern Bankers Notified. The publicity and exhibits commit- tee for the coming savings conference in this city also'met yesterday, F. P. H. Siddons presiding. The territory included in the regional convention takes in New England, the Middle hd South Atlantic States, and .notices have already been forwarded to the leading financial magazines and other publications announcing the time, place and aims of the gathering. As soon as the program is completed, all the bankers in the East will be given information about the subjects and speakers. The members of the committee in- cludé, in addition to the chairman, W. Reginald Lewis, vice chairman: John D. Leonard, Eliot H. Thomson, R, L Finther, Richard Hatton. Frank W. Patterson’and E. C. Stone. Guaranty Trust Ralses Dividend. By the Associated Press. CHICAGO,” February corn and oats today tou prices for went a sharp ea able weather for growing the domes Winter wheat crop also was a bearis factor. Opening unchanged to %e off, wheat suffered a decline with July down 1%c. Corn started unchanged to %c lower and subsequently showed more than lc drop in some cases, Provisions were firmer. According to some trade leaders, sentiment has been maintaining corn values. despite a most bearish supply and demand outlook, and a similar situation has existed in wheat. Under such circumstances, it was contended, liquidating sales were inevitable until actual demand developed sufficient tu absorb accumulations. Today's downturns in wheat here were the face of firmness at Liver- pool, associated with likelihood of port strikes in Argentina becoming gen eral. The declines here took place also, notwithstanding talk in some quarters that should the McNarys Haugen bill be vetoed better pricen for wheat might be expected. C. & D.
