Magnus John- son, former Farmer-Labor Senator, was his party’s unsuccessful guber- natorfal nominee. In Illinois the highest State office voted on was treasurer, all Republi- cans being returned winners. Zimmerman Wins Wisconsin. The same picture of Republican State victories appeared in Wisconsin, where Secretary of State Fred R. Zim- merman, anti-Blaine Progressive, rolled up a huge majority over his sition. In Nebraska it was virtually assured that the Republicans had made a clean sweep of the State ticket with the possible exception of governor. Even in the secretary of State’s office Charles P. Pool was upset by Frank Marsh, Republican. Gov. Adam Mc- Mullen, Republican, had a plurality | § over Charles W. Bryan, former Demo- | cratic governor, attempting a come- back, but indications were that the race would be very close. Fred W. Green, mayor of Ionia, Mich., had a comfortable lead in the wce for governor of Michigan over Willlam A. Comstock, Democratic drafted candidate, early today, and as expected to win out. i Close Race in Ohio. A close gubernatorial race was.in’ progress in Ohio, with Gov. Vie Don- | ahey, Democrat, seeking a third term, leading Meyer Y. Cooper, Earl D. Bloom, Democrat, with dry organiza- tion support, was leading James O. Mills, Republican, for lieutenant gov- ernor, but all other Republican State candidates apparently had been elected. The vote scratching in Indiana, which left the Senate and congres- slonal races in doubt early today, apparently had extended to State offices, Meager figures gave the Re- but only by small majorities. Iowa voters approved a constitutional amendment to grant women the right to sit in the State House of Repre- 4 sentatives.
