It continues, however, to compare favorably with a year ago and is considerably below the five-year average. Proportioned to the number of firms in business the index for the first half of October was at a ratio of 925 whereas it was 92.8 a. year ago. Sales for the Week Best in Cloths Division. NEW YORK, October 16 (#).-—Cot- Print ton goods were steadier today. Sales for the week were best in print cloths and approximated 308,000 pieces. Yarns:were steadier. About 5,000,000 pounds of tire fabrics were sold. Finished goods were bought in small lots for immediate and nearby shipment. Raw silk was easier.
