RELIGIOUS SCHOOL OPENS OCTOBER 11 "Y. M. C. A:Course to Be Given at Celvary Baptist Church Until December 13. The Y. M. C. A. School of Religious Education, created eight years ago, at the request of the Sunday School Council of Religious Education, to furnish a medium for giving instruc- tion in Christian leadership, will open October 11 and continue to hold classes thereafter every Monday eve- ning at the Calvary Baptist Church, Eighth and H streets, until Decem- ber 13. The courses offered include peychology as it applies to Sunday school administration; Sunday school administration, a course which will touch briefly on all phases of Sunday school activity; trend of Christian thought tHrough 1,900 years, a course interpreting the most crucial periods of Christian history; New Testament instruction, missions, parables of Jesus, Old Testament interpretation, the art of teaching, public speaking, the temple, life of Christ and the life of Paul. The classes are co-educational and the enroliment fee of $2 is the only cost, this sum being used to defray the necessary expenses of conducting the school. A diploma is given after completing the full four-year course of 120 hours' work. ‘The facuity of the school is com- posed of recognized educational and religious experts whose selection has been made possible because of the nature of the school and the pur- pose of the course, it is stated. The members of the faculty are: Homer J. Councilor, dean; Rev. Dr. Buhrer, pastor of the First Reformed Church; Dr. J. Thompson, well known Bible teacher. e e CONGREGATION WILL SEE LUTHERAN CHURCH PLANS North Capitol Street Group to Gather Wednesday Night to ‘Hear of Progress. The building project of the Luth- eran Church of the Atonement, North Capitol street and Rhode Island ave- nue, is progressing. The building committee met at the home of George F. Hane, Bethesda, Md., this week and transacted important business connected with the plant and specifi- cations of the new building. Next Wednesday evening a mreet- ing of the congregation will be held in the chapel to view the plans and drawings as prepared by the archi- tects, Ritcher & Eiler of Reading, Pa. Most of the plans have been reduced to slides, so that they can be shown on a screen. H. P. Caemmerer, sec- retary of the Fine Arts Commission, will give hort talk on church archi- tecture. Mr. Caemmerer {8 secretary of the building committee. The plans call for a lofty gothic type of building, with high vaulted ceilings and stone finish inside. There will be no plastering in the main du- ditorium of the building. The exterior walls will be built of North Carolina granite. Provision is made for the choir in the north transept.
