ADMITS MURDERING AGED RIGH FARMER Frank Sparr, Long Jailed on Suspicion, Says He Slugged Man With Auto Jack. By the Associated Press. VANDALIA, Ill., August—26.—Be- cause he was called a “liar”’ during an argument by Peter Rosenberger, wealthy aged farmer, Frank Sparr, a farm hand, vesterday confessed he fatally slugged the old man with an automobile jack, thereby clearing a murder mystery which concerned the authorities of four States. Sparr for the past two weeks had successfully posed as the purchaser of Rosen- berger's crops and equipment, after telling neighbors the old man had sud- denly decided to go East to live. “When the Illinois River yielded Rosenberger's body two weeks ago, after an extensive search had been made at river points in Tennessee, Missouri and Kentucky. a coroner’s jury recommmended that Sparr be held for the grand jury, which indicted him for murder. Appearing' for arralgnment vester- day, and in response to the court's in- structions 1o piead, Sparr suddenly proposed the sale of ‘rop on the farm to ¢ told the court, and ar as to make out a bi ale. Then the old man decided i he could employ a housekeeper he would stay on the farm himself, and they were on their way to seek one when the quarrel started. o Sparr said he made up his mind a week ago to plead guilty to the mur- der, after the finding of Rosenberger's body had cast doubt on his story of buying the farm. The prisoner ab- solved Roy Walker, a brother-n-law, and Willlam Walker, a half-brother, of any part in the deed. Sparr had been in jail without bond for almost two weeks and will be sen- tenced tomorrow. So far as is known, Rosenberger had no immediate rela- tives and what disposition will be | made of his body is undetermined. BOLT HITS DYNAMITE, JBLAST KILLS MAN, 33 Another Seriously Injured and Half Dozen Persons Knocked to Ground in Florida. By the Associated Press. FORT MYERS, Fla.. August 26.— One man was instantly killed, another serlously injured and a half dozen others were knocked to the ground by a bolt of lightning which struck a dynamite storehouse near here durin, storm. Thirty s of dynamite, of 1,500 pounds, were get off by the lightning. A constructioh camp, 300 feet from Tamiami Trail, where the storehouse was located, was demolished. Three children were cut by glass when the windows of a home nearly a mile away were shattered by the explosion.
