- BYRD ASKED T0 ADD 970 PARK BOARD '-‘\\Ilmlrfla Regional Planning Body Changes Asked by Civic Federation. ‘Wpectal Dispatch to The Star, CLARENDON, Va., July 27.—En- largement .of the northern Virginia Reglonal Planning Commission. to in. clude ‘“representative civio planners” vg Arlington County, is asked of Gov. Byrd in a letter sent him yes- terday by Robert H. Plymale, presi- dent of the Arlington County Civic Federation, The letter to the Governor is pri- marily for the purpose of attalning recognition for the Arlington County Civic Federation on the commission, named to collaborate with the Na- tional Capital Park and Planning Com- mission in regional development of ‘Washington and its environs, & move- ‘r‘nent initiated by the local federa- on. Besldes calling attention of the Gov- ernor to the fact that the idea for regional development was concelved by the federation, the letter stresses that point that legislation passed by the last session of the general as. sembly, authorizing official co-opera- tion was sponsored by the federation. “The federation,” the letter con- tinues, “has the highest regard for the gentlemen appointed by you, but feels that some recognition is due representative civic planners whose efforts should be utilized because of thelr standing with the membership of the National Capital Park and THE FEVENING BTAR, WASHINGTON, D. Planning Commission and the Mary- land Commission. “This committee of three could be ably assisted by others. Our federa- tion, representing 84 local associa- tions, requests that additional mem- bers be appointed by your excellency and is prepared through R. E. Ply- male, its president, to furnish you with a selected list of persons with proven ability, should you so desire’” A resolution adopted at the last meeting of the federation urged that the commission be increased to a membership of 14 to equal the mem- bership of the commission appeinted by Maryland. It suggests that eight be appointed from Arlington County, three from Alexandria City and three from Falrfax County. The commis- slon’s membership now includes three from Arlington County and one each from Alexandria City and Fairfax County. ey Patent leather shoes from this coun- try are now being worn by better f Polan: Entire Stock—Hundreds of Mohair, Palm Beach and Linen Suits Reduced to 51375 Every suif silk trimmed, hand tailored Mohair silk stripe suits in black and smart gray shades.
