. REAL OCTOBER REALTY MARKET AT PEAK Month’s Figures for 41 Cities 67 Per Cent Above Average of the Past Ten Years. National real estate market activity for October reached the highest point made for that month during the past 10 years, according to the index com- piled by the National Association of Real Estate Boards. The index, which is the only quantitative meas- ure of real estate activity that has been made, is based on the official figures of the total number of trans- fers and conveyances in 41 typical cltles of the United States. The index for October did not de- viate from that for the month pre- vious, remaining on the same level with September’s market at 167 points. This number, based on the average real estate market activity of these 41 cities for the month of October, be- tween 1916 and 1924, means that the real estate market reached a point of activity 67 per vent above that aver- age during the month of October. The present calculations, the asso- ciation points out i ing an int pretation of the ind res, are ad justed to eliminate seasonal fluctua tions, but are not adjusted to eliminate the influence of the long-time trend. Since the normal incre in popula- tion should bring a measurable, con stant, month-by-month Increase in the volume of. rezl estate transfers, the fact that the index number for October is identical with that for Sep- tember indicates a slight decrease from the normal upward trend of activity. Bullding construction during the month underwent a reaction, accord ing to an index compiled by the F. W. Dodge Corporation from building sta. tistics. The index indicates approxi mately the same de tion of industrial b non-residential types, drop In residential co with a smaller truction. A record volume of contemplated work was reported in October, accord- ing to the report, influenced probably by the speculative tendencles in evi- dence during the past few months. Actual building is not expected to fall off to any serious extent while general busines ntinues its upward }renld or remains at about its present evel CONTINUED DEMAND FOR PETWORTH HOMES Slackening of Sales Disappearing and Many Properties Are Transferred in Section.
