Barnes, veteran employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad Co., died Saturday at her home, 1337 A street northeast, following a long illness from heart trouble. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the residence, with Rev. Dr. John Paul Tyler, pastor of the Petworth Methodist Church, officiat- ing. Interment was in Congressional Cemetery. Mrs. Barnes, who was born in Howard County, Md., celebrated her 60th birthday last Monday. Refore her marriage she was Miss Priscilla White. She was married to Mr. Barnes 36 years ago. He has been an engineer on the Pennsylvania lines for more than 38 vears. Mrs. Barnes had lived in Washington most of her life. In addition to her husband Mrs. Barnes is survived by a son, Norman H. THOMAS E. LANDON, ' CONTRACTOR, DIES Head of Plastering Firm Was| Prominent in Fraternal and Civic Associations. Thomas E. Landon. 78 years old, for many vears a well known plastering contractor of this city and prominent | in fraternal and other organization | activities, died at his residence, 1020 | Monroe street, Saturday after a linger- Ing iliness. He was a member of the Association of Oldest Inhabitants of the District of Columbia Mr. Landon had been following the plastering business since he was a hoy | 17 years old and had contracts for plastering work on many Government and other well known buildings in Washington. He is said to have been the only per- son ever to have had a contract for doing plastering in the Washington Monument. 1In addition he had con- tracts at different times for work in the old Census Building, Carnegie Li- brary, the first Munsey Ruilding, Hotel Shoreham and many other well | known edifices in this city, including | Sork on the old Hamline M. Church. At the time of his death he had the | contract for plastering in the new Hamline M. E. Church, Sixteenth and Allison streets, which ix to be dedicat ed on Thanksgiving. His first work as a journeyman plasterer was done in the old Stafe, War and Navy Building It was soon after doing this work that he went into business for himself as | a plastering contractor. He was well known in circles. He was a member of the New Jerusalem Lodge, No. 9. F. A. A. M De Molay Commandry No. 4, Knights | Templar: the Almas Temple of the Mystic Shrine and the Knights of Pytheas. He also belonged to the W ington Chamber of Commeree Board of Trade, Hamline M. E. Church and the City Club. Mr. Landon is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lucinda A. Landon: three daugh ters. Mrs. George Bradley and Mrs Fred (. Schaeffer of Washington and Mrs. Frank C. Bradbury of Riverside HL: four sons, Ernest, Harry, Howard and Willlam Landon, all of Washing ton: 26 grandchildren and four great srandchildren.
