THE SUNDAY STAR, WASHIN . C.—GRAVURE SECTION—OCTOBER Two views of the Meade Memorial group which will be placed in the Bo- tanic Garden. The sculptor of the beautiful work is Charley Grafly of Mas- sachusetts. The pedestal and group are of pink Tennessee marble, the plat- form of pink Milford granite, the wings and standard of gilded bronze. The group at the left shows Loyalty removing the cloak of war from Meade’s shoulders. Fame is reaching up toward things not yet attained, and Energy is moved by Fame's eagerness to such an extent that he pulls away from the figure of War, at his right. The view at right shows the dominant figure of War, whose wings sweep back toward Meade and make a somber background for the symbolical figures that represent the qualities of the great general. The Magazine of today's Star contains an article on the Meade Memorial and detail photographs of the group.
