C, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 1928, The Third Floor Takes on a New Autumn Dress Byé’fié/%/dzoné It doesn’t look like the same old floor—it's completely rejuvenated —and certainly is now a fitting place for the beautiful display of handsome frocks and coats which delight the hearts of feminine customers. And especially do the Nemser gowns receive their plaudits. But there, I am disgressing. 1 wanted to tell you all about the new arrangement of the third floor. Plans and drawings, and many discussions, have resulted in a most attractive and much more comvenient arrangement than formerly. It takes a great deal of time, too. especially when all the mecessary work must be done at night and week ends so that customers will not be incon- venienced in their shopping. Stepping off the elevator. one has a vista of the dress display. beautifully decorated with green palms, oriental rugs, comfort- able chairs and settees—a form here and there clothed in lovely frocks for evening—for afternoon or perhaps in the latest dashing sports attire. To the left. a square hung with a rope of green leaves. in which is seen a wedding gown— the bridal veil and dainty brides- maids’ frocks. Accessories, too, are shown. Nothing is crowded— but each display is indicative of the wonderful selection ready for your inspection. And right here I want to say a word about the special attention that is now being given to cos- tumes for the larger women, that being a subject very near to my heart. The day has gone by when side panels and such were the only designs for larger women. Today the self-same models used for the slender women are clev- erly designed and carried out for larger women. And in this de- partment of the Palais Royal we have several experts. well versed in the kind of frocks the larger women like and who will be very happy to give their personal at- tention to those desiring them. Another innovation is a special section for misses of 14 to 20 and small women, one which I am sure will be greatly appreciated. Here are frocks in sizes specially designed for such figures. Coats of all kinds are over where the dresses used to be. And the kiddies, bless them, have a fine department straight back of the elevator. This has made it possible to devote more space to silken underthings, negligees, muslin underthings, etc. Seems to me we have never had such a wonderful collection of the most fascinating negligees one can imagine as right now. Taking a trip over the third floor a day or two ago | spent nearly an hour just looking at them and it was well worth it. There are the newest tailored lounging robes which college girls affect, a great many models in black, hand painted, or embroidered in bril- liant colors, or perhaps a design of applique in soft par:hmen{. That was a new one fo me—it looks much like soft kid leather. Then there were negligees of daintily-colored silks and satins— with trimmings of swansdown or feathers and some of velvet. Of course there were the more sub- stantial robes of corduroy and soft, fleecy woolens. But :urely every new thing in negligees is to be found in this transformed de- partment on the third floor. Come in the next time you are down town, and just take a trip over it as I did—yow’ll enjoy it— what woman doesn’t? Even if you do not come to buy—you will know just where to get things when you do want them.
