DAVID BERGAZIN DIES, HEART DISEASE VICTIM Had Iong Been Identified With Activities of Hebrew Associations in Washington. David Bergazin, 59 years old, en- saged for many years in the dry goods business on Seventh street, and long prominently identifled with Jewish ac- tivities here, died of heart disease at his residence, 1119 Clifton street, yes- terday. He had been a resident of Washington for the last 35 vears. 1219- Mr. Bergazin was one of the found- ers and president of the Hebrew Free Loan Association, and was a member of the B'rith Sholem, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Mac- cabees. He retired from business about five years ago. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Celia Bergazin; five daughters, Mrs. Isadore Kahn, Mrs. Louise Jacobs, Miss Lilllan Bergazin, Miss Sadle Ber- gazin and Miss Flora Bergazin, and a son, Charles Bergazin, all uf this city. Miss Fay L. Bentley, director of the department of school attendance and work permits, began work yesterday on a definite plan for reporting ab- sences of puplls in public, private and parochial schools in the District. She will submit it within the next week to the officials of all institutions affected by the compulsory education-law. _All absences under the compulsory education law, must be reported to Miss Bentley's office weekly. She will require that the reports list the absence occurring within the week and all two-day or four-and-bne-half ! day absences which have accumulated within a month previous. As little compulsion as possible will be used by Miss Bentley and her ot fice to force children to attend school.
