CHICAGO, July 20.—The petition of 73 Western rallroads for an 11 per cent , increase in freight rates will meet the organized opposition of the American Farm Bureau Federation, was anpounced by officers of the or ganization following a conference here Satyrday. Farm Bureaus in 22 States affected by the increase will be mobil ized to fight the petition. Hearings on the petition of the rail roads before the Interstate Commerce Commission have been set for Septem- ber 1. The proposed increase would add $180,000.000 to the annual freight bill of the States affected, of which $35 000,000 would be paid directly by the farmers, said O. W.
