THE EVENING STAR., WASHINGTON, D. C., THURSDAY, JULY 16, 1925. Call, phone or 21 ' The Three Elements of Nokol Superiority EVEN vyears ago the first automatic oil heater for homes—a Nokol—was installed in a home heating plant. Today of approximately 75,000 automatic oil heaters installed in the United States by 347 manufacturers, 22,000 are Nokols. There are more Nokols installed than any other type of oil burner. And more Nokols are being sold today than ever before. The basis of Nokol popularity is the superiority of Nokol performance. Today as 7 years ago Nokol does things no other heating device —coal or oil—can do. Among the many elements which combine to produce Nokol superiority are three: 1 The Nokol Combus- tion Chamber makes Nokol efficiencyinde- pendent of your heat- ing plant The Nokol Combustion Chamber is the one great new contribution of the past 10 years to the oil‘burning art. It is the one great principle upon which the entire success of automatic oil heating for homes is built. 1t makes the efficiency of Nokol entirely in- dependent of the efficiency of the heating plant. It is this remarkable fact that has been responsible for Nokol success and has con- tinued tomark the difference between Nokol and every other oil burner. This combustion chamber is responsible for Nokol cleanliness and low fuel cost. It con- centrates the flame and produces the tem- perature necessary for complete combus- tion in 30 seconds. It prevents the flame from touching the boiler—Nokol acts en- tirely by radiant heat. It prevents the burn- ing out of boiler plates. The patented system of burning oil in a household boiler made possible by the Nokol combustion chamber is as indispensable to clean, economical oil burning as pneumatic tires are to automobile riding comfort. This combustion chamber and its application to a household boiler is exclusive with Nokol and may be used by no other oil burner except under license. 2 Nokol isnotforced tore- sort to low-grade fuels by inefficient operation Few subjects call for as frank speaking as the use of low-grade oilsin home heating. For we believe that every oil burner would burn a good grade of distillate if it could afford to. For distillate is a standard product, dependable, easy to secure, and will always be plentiful. Low- grade fuel oil is not. In many cities oil companies refuse to deliver it for home use. It is gummy. It smells. It congeals in cold weather. It necessitates the application of hazardous pressure pumps on the oil line to break up the oil. It is incapable of rendering Nokol service. Every experienced oil burner manufacturer, every experienced oil burner user, every home-owner who appreciates the difference between harg and soft coal knows that the grade of oil suitable forhome useisnotthe same as that commonly used to oil country roads. Nokol makes and sells oil burners that burn the lowest grade of oil fuel. But not in the home. The home is not the place for low-grade oil. Nor has Nokol ever asked for the approval of any safety board to burn fuel unfit for domestic use in the home. ~ As a matter of fact low-grade oil makes very good summer sales talk and renders very poor winter service. Most oil ~ burners which claim to burn low-grade oil usually end by burning Nokol fuel or distillate before the winter is over. If an oil burner claims to burn fuel oil make sure this is a winter fact and not a summer claim. And remember this: If the owner of a burner claiming to burn ““cheap oil”” should decide in midwinter that he must burn Nokol fuel to secure the type of service he wants, his fuel cost will be as much as 30 or 40% more than that of Nokol. 3 Nokol fuel cost is to thebest of ourknowl- edge less than that of any other oil burner This whole question of economy is insepa- rably tied up with the patented Nokol com- bustion chamber system. Fuel cost is not a matter of the grade of oil used. It is a matter of proper combustion. If your oil burner causes soot, this means wasted fuel. It means insulation of your boiler surfaces and more waste. If your oil burner depends on brick- work to concentrate the heat there is more waste till these bricks get red hot. Some- times it takes an hour to heat them properly. Sometimes they never reach the 1600° nec- essary to complete combustion. Every min- ute your burner operates below this tem- perature it means waste. Nokol reaches this temperature in 30 seconds. If instead of the combustion chamber brick-work is used for this purpose it cuts down the already small heat-absorbing sur- face of the average coal boiler. More waste. There is nothing new about attempting to use brick- work in home heating. In factories it has been used for 60 years. T, is used in factories by Nokol today. But not in the nome with intermittent firing. Anyone gcan break up oil and force it into a boiler. But few can burn it economically. The fuel cost of Nokol is to the best of our knowledge less than that of any dj)ther oil burner, regardless of the grade of oil use ' Make sure the oil burner you buy will deliver to your home the comfort you rightfully expect of an oil burner. Make sure by buying Nokol. The proper time to initall Nokol is now. It’s a short time till you’ll want the unfailing, economical heat that only Nokol can give.
