NEW YORK, March 3.—Today's Stock market, although giving another impression of strength, became more irregular, and there were many losses as gains. Trading began with generally higher prices, many of the recent favorites attracting a ready following. The magnitude of the advance at- fracted realizing sales on a larger Scale, and there were sharp reactions as the day went on. In the mean- Rime, however, some further striking Bdvances had occurred among (he high-priced industrials of the type of General Electric, American Can, Du- pont and American Car and Foundry. The Jast named made a new high as it struck 213, and Dupont as it passed 1501;. Mack Trucks was bid up with considerable violence for a while, and Texas Guf Sulphur crossed 110 for the first time. Ludlum Steel Soars. Nobody seemed to be able to give @ atistactory explanation for the sen- A omal nerformance in Ludlum Steel, Which opened at 48 against a low on onday of 35. Oil bonds were conspicuous. One of these was Chicago, Burling- ton and Quincy 3'zs, for which a spe- clal demand ppeared, and another was Colorado Southern 4s, which sold in large blocks on a 4.40 per cent basis, The last named were very ac- tive Monday, nd the market was just as firm today.
