STAMFORD, Conn., February | For a long time radio fans in this city were bothered with interference from | the high-power lines of the local lighting company and the railroad gystem. The latter being electrified, the trouble was belleved to be coming primarily from that source. The in- torference finally Increased.to a point where it was practically impossible for fans to listen to broadcasts. Finally members of the Plate and Grid Club, « radio organization com- poxed of both listeners and amateurs of the American Radio Relay League, decided to take the matter into their own hands, and a committée was ap- pointed to interview railroad officiais. Unawa previously that their Wnes had been causing trouble of thig na- ture, these officlals agreed to render any reasonable help, even to the ox- tent of de-energizing the power tem- porarily. The operators of several amateur stations, fncluding K. O'Toole, city manager of the A. R R L, installed an eight-tube super-heterodyne re- ceiver and a loop merial in an auto- mobile and Eet out Lo locate the leaks.
