Dorman, 85 years old, a veteran of the Union Army and an mploye of the Interior Department s @ carpenter and cabinetmaker for nearly 57 years, died at his resi- dence, 532 Fifth street southeast, yes- terday after a short illness. During the Civil War Mr. Dorman served with the Construction Corps, military roads, Army of the Potomac. He was mustered into the service in Octcber, 1862, and mustered out in May, 1865. Mr. Dorman was appointed a car- penter in the Interior Department September 24, 1867, and served in that capacity and that of general cabinetmaker until he became {ll, about five weeks ago. Although past the retirement age, the Civil Service approved a further continuance of his services from July 23, 1924, He is survived by his widow, Mrs Susle Dorman; a son, Jerome B, Dor- man, jr., and two sisters, Miss Carrie V. Native of Germany Was for Years Resident of Washington. Mra Emile E. Morl dled Tuesday at her home, 1722 Corcoran street. She will be burled tomorrow morn- Ing at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Mori was a resident of the District of Columbia for more than 43 years. She was born June 16, 1860, in Wasseralfingen, Wuerteberg, Ger- many. At an early age she graduated from the Training School for Nurses at Heilbroun. She recelved the high- est honors of her class, and enjoyed the personal favor of Queen Olga. then relgning, who wanted to place her in charge of the Krippe, & noted institution for the benefit of small children, and & branch of the Hospital of Hellbroun. Mrs. Mori received several . letters from the queen re- gurding this matter, which corre- spondence she always cherished. After serving as a nurse for two years Mrs, Mori came to America, where a year later, in 1882, she be- came the wife of Prof. Emile E. Mori, a music teacher and composer. The young couple lived for a few months in Worcestor, Mass, and then came to Washington to live. Besides her husband, Mrs. Morl s survived by four daughters, Miss Patience O., of Dresden, Germany: Mrs. Bertha Hausenblas, Mrs. Vera A. Mills and Mrs. Freir M. J., Junuary 23.—Joseph French Johnson, 71, dean of the School of Commerce of New York University and president of the Alexander Hamilton Institute, died at Idylease Inn here yesterday from angina pectoris. Dean Johnson had been in {11 health some time. Dean Johnson was born in Hard- wick, Mass., in 1853. He was on the staff of the Springfield Republican when Samuel Bowles was editor, and from there went to the Chicago Trib- une to be a financial editor. He es- tablished the Spokane Spokesman in Washington in 1890. Frank A. Vanderllp was secretary to Dean Johnson on the Chicago Tribune, having been ‘lscovered by him.
