The committee on arrangements for the big dramatic spectacle, “A Game of Mah-Jong,” which is to be given on the evening of Friday, February 6, in the New Washington Auditorium, under the auspices of the Bellea Wood Memorial Association, met y. terday momning at the home of Mrs. James Carroll Frazer, with Mrs. Al- bert N. Baggs, chairman of the com- mittee, presiding. Tremendous inter- est 1s developing in this unique affair, and a great number of boxes are al- roady taken by prominent people in the official and soclal life of Wash. Ington to witness the brilliant dis- play of costumes In the spectacle, and the equally brilliant playlng of the two games of mah-jong, the old Fast- ern game to be played by the Chinese legation attaches, and the new West- ern game to bo played by four prominent Washington women. At the meeting, all of whom are in charge of some important commit- tee in conniection with the event, were Mrs. Marle Moore, Forrest, author and director of the spectacle; Mrs. Minnlgerode Andrews, chalrman of costumes; Mrs. John A. Lejeune, in charge of the group of circles, the Marine Corps group; Mrs. John L. Hines, in chargo of the group of bamboos, the Army group, assisted by Mrs Edward Sturgis and Mrs. Townslee of the Army group; Mrs. John G. Capers, chairman of the pro- gram committee: Mrs. George Bar- nett, of the costames committee; Mrs. John Callan O'Leughiin, Miss Kath- erine Judge and sie Mo Keldin, in charge of the groups of flowers, winds and dragons; Miss Vir- ginia Hunt and Miss Caroline Thom, in charge of the group of characters, and Capt. John Craig and Mr. W. H. Roberts, jr, both of the executive committee. A series of wonderfully colorful Grecian flags, separately designed and painted by a number of Washing- ton artists, and ranging from assic to modern art, will adorn the boxes at the Bal Boheme of the Arts Club Monday evening, January 5. in the New Willard ballrooms. At the far end of the room, on a gold-draped dais against a background of black velvet, will be seated the Trojan hero Paris, before whom the seven arts appear in turn for judgment Richard Elwell, leading actor of the Ram's Head players, will appear as Paris, in his gorgeous robes of the golden age of Pericles, his ship of gold in miniature above his head. Great hanging lamps will shed a pink and orange glow throughout the rooms, reflected likewise from th ide lights on the wall above the boxes. This brillia is the headed nt scheme of decoration work of a group of artists by Cameron Burnside, sisted by Beverley Harris, Canning Smith, Prentiss Taylor, who is re- sponsible for the lighting, and a number of students of the Corcoran School of Art. It is distinctive in that it provides the classic atmos- phere of the ancient Greeks brought down to modern times and in keep- ing with he gaily costumed dancers on the floor. Mr. Warren N.
