NEW YORK, December 31— Two years of domestic troubles between Allan A. Ryan, son of Thomas For- tune Ryan, financier, and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Tack Ryan, were brought to a close by a divorce which Mrs. Ryan obtained last July, but which has just been revealed. The divorce hearing was before a referes in Rockland County, it was learned. An unidentified woman was named by Mrs. Ryan as co-respondent. Mr. Ryan denled the charges and gave testimony. The question of alimony is not mentioned in the decree, which gave Mrs. Ryan custody of her six children, except for vacation periods, when they are to epend half of théir time with their father and half with their mother. The children now are with their father at his home in Montelalr, Mr. Ryan lost a fortune in Wall Street in the Summer of 1922, after his corner of Stutz Motors. His do- mestic troubles first became public early in 1923, when Mr. Ryan com- plained to the district attorney that his wifc's name had been lifked in a series of “poison pen” letters with that of Georze Maxwell, president of the American Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers. Maxwell was indicted on charges of sending slanderous letters to Mr. Ryan about Mrs. Ryan and of forging another person’s name to a scurrilous letter. The indictment was later dismissed. e i S The praper name for the religion of the followers of Mohammed is not Mohammedanism, but Islam, accord- ing to competent authorities.
