L.Ql:\k fof America and the World League Against Alcoholism In & state- ment issued at natlonal headqusr- ters here yesterday declared that the elevation of Willlam Green to the presidency of the American Federa- tion of Labor is not only a victory for labor, but is a victory to both natlonal and world prohibition and law enforcement. Mr, Green, the statement saye, is an active dry. “Utterances of the late Mr. Gom- pers and a few other ‘wet' men in the federation often were quoted abroad as an argument against pro- hibition,” the statement says. ‘Tt now will be possible to point out to the world that the president of the American Federation of Labor ls an active prohibitionist. He was registered at the hotel as Willlam Armstrong. Inspector Ryan of the mounted llce, received a telegram from New York Saturday, asking for the ar- rest of Andrews.
