WILL USE U. 5. LOAN TOREPAY ADVANCE French Government Makes Arrangement With Bank of Nation for Payments. By the Associated Press. PARIS, December 25.—The French government and the Bank of France have made an agreement under which, if Parllament approves the terms, the treasury, by December 31, will repay to the bank, 1,200,000,600 franca of the advances received from the bank, instead of the 2,000,000,000 francs repayment which theoretically should be made each year. The repayment last year was 1,000,- 000,000 francs, and the year before 2,000,000,000. In order to make this vears repayment the government will use the recent loan floated in the United States, taking credit for $100,- 90,000 at 5.18 francs, thus providing 518,000,000 francs, the remainder be- ing supplied by amortization funds. Mimistry Inxues Note. In connection with the agrees:ent the following note was issued by the ministry of finance last night: “A bill was Introduced in the Chamber of Deputies for the ratifica- tion of an agreement reached between Finance Miuister Clementel and M. Robineau, governor of the Bank of Franoce, concerning the repavment which the treasury will effect Decem- ber 31, to the Bank of France. “Under this agreement the state will pay to the account of the Bank of France, in New York, the proceeds of the $100,000,000 loan contracted on the American wmarket, and the Bank of France will credit the state in francs with a sum corresponding to this deposit on the basis of 5 francs 18 centimes to the dollar. This credit in francs will be applied to the reduc- tion of the advances of the Bank of France toward the amount of the Text repayment, which is fixed at 1,200,000,000 francs. “The amount of the advances au- thorized will thus be reduced to 22,- 000,000,000 francs for 1925. “The bank may be authorized by the state to realize on these dollars, in which case the difference between the price obtained and 5 francs 18 centimes will fall to the treasury. On the other hand, the state reserves its | vight at any moment to reclaim the unrealized-upon dollars from the bank at the price of § francs 15 cen- times per dollar. Tevenue from investments the bank will have effected by means of these dollars, it will be entirely to the Profit of the treasury.” Some Tramp Preventive.
